Swahili Master Classes

Swahili Classes

Learnability and Methods of Teaching

The mission of Karibu is to thoroughly educate the student so that by the end of our advanced program you will freely converse in Kiswahili at a near native speaking level!

Courses are delivered through lectures, class discussions, reading, guest speakers, watching videos, listening to Swahili music, and interaction by other native Swahili speakers available at UBC and Vancouver. There will be a Swahili Club with such events as: Swahili Music Night, Swahili Culture, Swahili food, etc. Each of these will help you to be acquainted with Swahili language and Swahili culture.

Swahili is one of the easiest languages to learn. However, we cannot guarantee you to speak it fluently unless you learn it by heart through attending all classes and memorizing the vocabulary. If you practice speaking Swahili during classroom discussions and interaction with other Swahili speakers we guarantee you that even after completing the first-level three month program you will see the fruits of your labour.
